Planting Trees for a Greener Future
As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability, PT Sumiden Serasi Wire Products, together with its group company Sumitomo Electric Group Indonesia, collaborated with Trees4Trees on a tree-planting initiative aimed at supporting ecosystem conservation and strengthen environmental sustainability in the surrounding community.
Located in the Sentul area, specifically around the Cibingbin Waterfall Tourist Area-a natural attraction with several waterfalls-this area, with its beautiful natural scenery, is a popular destination for outdoor activities such as hiking, trekking, canyoning, and more.
As activity in the area increases, so does the potential risk of environmental damage caused by uncontrolled tourism development. The area's steep slopes and rough terrain make it highly vulnerable to erosion and landslides.
To support the sustainability of this area, PT Sumiden Serasi Wire Products, together with its group company Sumitomo Electric Group Indonesia and Trees4Trees, planted 300 trees on the vulnerable slopes near the waterfall. This initiative is a continuation of the company's environmental commitment, following the planting of 1,000 trees last year in Tamansari Village, another rural area in Bogor.
This activity is in line with one of the values of the Sumitomo Spirit: a commitment to contributing to society and the environment. The program also serves as an educational tool to raise awareness about the importance of tree planting in facing climate change and preserving natural resources for future generations.
In addition to the tree-planting activity, participants were invited to go on a two-kilometer hike to a waterfall. This provided a unique experience and was also beneficial for the participants' health. This activity can serve as an opportunity to strengthen togetherness and improve the spirit of collaboration among participants.
This program is one of the concrete steps taken by PT Sumiden Serasi Wire Products to support its sustainability agenda. Through its collaboration with Trees4Trees, the company hopes to continue contributing to the creation of sustainable environmental, social, and economic benefits for the community and future generations.
